Last night I managed to catch up with my son, Cooper, and his partner, Karly, who coincidentally happened to be in the Lofotens at the same time. It was lovely to see them – they’ve been having a great holiday all across Europe for the last couple of weeks.
Today, though… another day riding through paradise. We only had a short distance to ride to the other end of the Lofotens – only about 160kms – so it was a slow roll.
We had a late departure from the hotel, took a detour down to Å – the southernmost town on the islands and also officially the town with the shortest name in the world.
From there, we headed north, stopping in Nusfjord for lunch and then Henningsvær for afternoon coffee.
We finished the day in Svolvær where we embarked on the next stage of our journey. We are now aboard a ferry/cruise on the Hurtigruten Express (you have to say it with the accent of the Muppets’ Swedish Chef – hoooorrrtey-grrrroooten). It takes us from the Lofoten Islands to Bergen over 2.5 days. The bikes are loaded in the hold and we now get to experience a much more passive form of travel. It’s a bit of a milk run as we stop in about a dozen ports before we reach our destination.

I’m working on the video from the day but I’ve got the next 2.5 days on this boat to work on it so be patient. 😃
