Seeing the world one ride at a time

Day -1 @ Hamburg 🇩🇪

Today was the day where I a) run out of steam and just need to take a break; and b) get distracted doing something else…

Which was building this – a standalone blog for my travels instead of relying on FB which is a platform I’ve not really liked for some time now. I find that when I interact with it I get stuck in the algorithm, scrolling crap that rots the brain. So I’m doing this to get myself off the system as I really only use it for my trips and such.

Anyhow – nothing really interesting to report today… the other riders are starting to trickle in and I met a couple of them in the bar tonight. Bernd from here in Germany, and Donald from Traralgon in Victoria. Both are returning Compass riders (as am I) and nice guys so this should be a good tour.

The hotel here in interesting – an old gasworks built in the late 1800s that was turned into Hamburg’s first “design hotel” in 2000.

Tomorrow we have our rider briefing here at the hotel, then we go pick up our bikes from the hiring company. Nearly there now…
